The land is mostly wooded with oak trees, and it would be possible to get Canal de Provence water to the property as the pipeline runs along the adjacent field – this makes watering the garden and filling the pool less expensive than using city water.

The large garage is at lower ground floor level and is big enough for two cars, and also has a wine cellar and tool room.

In the hillside that the house is built on, there are the remains of 300-year-old dwellings built into the hill, which could be rebuilt as the walls partly remain.

The house is in the countryside between the beautiful Luberon villages of Lacoste and Bonnieux.

Equally beautiful whether you are admiring it from afar perched on its hill, or exploring its streets and squares, Bonnieux is blessed with plenty of restaurants, from simple bistro to Michelin 3-star, as well as one of the most picturesque of Provence’s street markets, every Friday morning year-round.

Bonnieux’s school has elementary and primary school sections, taking children up to age 11.

Within a few minutes’ drive are other notable perched villages of the Luberon like Gordes, Menerbes, Goult and Roussillon. The nearest town is Apt (15 minutes), while the city of Avignon is 50 minutes away, Aix-en-Provence 1 hour, and Marseille airport is 65 minutes.
