La Maison de la Mine is a unique and historic B&B set in 1 hectare of gardens in the centre of the history of the town. Less than 500m from the town itself, it is ideally located for your stays in Creuse with everything you need on your doorstep whilst maintaining the peaceful isolation the house can offer!

Built in 1870 it was originally the residence for the Mine's director. Coal was mined here until the 1960's after which the house was abandoned. 2010 saw the re-opening of the house and now in 2012 it has been accredited "3 épis" from Gites de France.

The "chateau de lavaveix" as it is locally known offers guests a warm welcome from the British owners with three vast rooms, all en-suite with TV, tea and coffee facilities, iron, towels......

The dedicated guest lounge has a TV, DVD, library, games....or you can soak up the summer sun in the garden on the terrace, in the garden room (which was the original orangery), take a seat by the pond and watch the Koi, play pétanque, have a BBQ or a picnic....or simply find a shady corner, under one of the enormous trees and lose yourself in the tranquillity of it all.

Food is available on site for lunch time and evening meals. A continental breakfast is included in your room rate.

Pets are accepted free of charge and baby equipment is available (please reserve in advance)
