French Public Holidays / National Holidays in 2010
- Friday 1 January - New Year's Day (Jour de l'An).
- Sunday 4 April - Easter (Pâques).
- Monday 5 April - Easter Monday (Lundi de Pâques).
- Saturday 1 May - Labour Day (Fête du Travail)
- Saturday 8 May - VE Day - WWII Victory Day (Fête de la Victoire 1945).
- Thursday 13 May - Ascension Day (Ascension catholique).
- Sunday 23 May - Whit Sunday (Pentecôte).
- Monday 24 May - Whit Monday (Lundi de Pentecôte).
- Wednesday 14 July - Bastille Day (Fête nationale).
- Sunday 15 August - Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Assomption).
- Monday 1 November - All Saints' Day (Toussaint).
- Thursday 11 November - Armistice Day (Armistice 1918).
- Saturday 25 December - Christmas Day (Noël).

French school holidays in Zone ATo complement these bank holidays, school holidays happen five times a year in France: in February (Winter Holiday, traditionally known as "ski holidays"), April (Easter or Spring Holiday), July and August (Summer Holiday), November (All Saints Holiday) and December (Christmas Holiday).
The allocation of the school holidays is done according to three "holiday zones" (A, B and C, respecting the school authorities) in order to share and manage the flow of French holidaymakers.
These dates are given as guidelines only. Please double-check them with the local institutions before making any plan for the future.
Zone A covers:
- Auvergne (Clermont-Ferrand)
- Brittany (Rennes)
- Languedoc-Roussillon (Montpellier)
- Lorraine (Nancy / Metz)
- Lower Normandy (Caen)
- Midi-Pyrenees (Toulouse)
- Pays de la Loire (Nantes)
- Rhone-Alpes (Lyon / Grenoble)

- 13/02/10 to 01/03/10 - Winter holiday
- 10/04/10 to 26/04/10 - Spring holiday
- from 02/07/10 - Summer holiday
- 23/10/10 to 03/11/10 - Toussaint holiday (All Saints) - Autumn holiday
