Natural national parks in FranceWhat is a natural park?A natural park is a portion of territory which is classified and in which the Faun and the Flore (and mainly, the environment) are protected. Each park offers spectacular views and incredible biodiversity to visitors. Cevennes national natural ParkThe Cevennes National Park is mainly located in the departments of Lozere and Gard, and Ardeche and Aveyron too. More than 40,000 people live in these highlands with 1,000m of average altitude. A rich flore (2250 species) and a diversify faune (2410 species) fill you with wonder through the 4,000 kilometres walk. Ecrins national ParkThis park is located between Grenoble, Gap and Briançon. It has got 740 kilometers walk and contents many famous tops like La Meije (3,983 m of altitude) and La Grave (3,946 m of altitude). In walking, you should meet chamois, ibexes, marmots and the golden eagle. Guadeloupe national parkThe tropical forest and the mountains constitute an incredible biodiversity. Visit the Soufriere Volcan, the alone living volcan in this region and observe the bats and the mongooses or insects with spectacular size. Mercantour national parkThe Mercantour national park is an ideal destination to practise excursion, alpinism, ski touring, … Discover the “Vallée des Merveilles” with its 40,000 prehistoric engravings and admire the largest altitude lake in Europe. You may even catch a glimpse of a Wolf. Port-Cros national parkThe Port-Cros national park stretches on Port-Cros and Bagaud islands. Thanks to its 1288 hectares of marine surfaces, it became the fisrt marine European parc. Across this small Port-Cros town with a nice castle and an old harbour. The Pyrénées national parkThe Pyrenees national park has 230 altitude lakes and the highest Pyrenees tops. This park is considered as one of the richest about its flore and its faune (raptors, the lynx and the late savage bears in France). It communicates on 100 km with the Ordesa Spanish national park. La Vanoise national parkIt has been created in 1856 to protect the ibexes against the hunters. This natural park proposes lots of tops between which curve large valleys. The ibexes are now numerous, we should see the chamois and some marmots, and if you look at the sky, you will maybe see a golden eagle. Guyane Amazonian parkOnly accessible by plane or with a dugout, it scretches 34,000 square kilometres.
