Lower Normandy Gites, Apartments and Cottages
Lower Normandy is still a really "wild" region of France. Many accomodations can be found in the countryside as well as in cities, to get a more actual taste of Lower Normandy identity.
Here are the different types of accomodations to be found:
- Gites de France
The Gites de France label is the most famous and serious label for French gites. They follow a special ranking system similar to the star one for hotels. Gites de France can then have 1 to 5 épis (ears), corresponding to the facilities they offer. In Lower Normandy they are particularly big, with an average area of 300 sq m.
- Cottages in Lower Normandy
Many cottages can be found, either to rent or buy, on the shoreline or further inland. They are besides more affordable than in other regions. These houses are very practically laid out while keeping a traditional style. As Lower Normandy is particularly suited for horse-riding, it could be an ideal starting point to discover the region on horseback.
- Rent or buy an apartment
Apartments in Lower Normandy can be really cheap depending upon their location, and many bargains can be found, especially in the countryside around big cities. Unlike other French regions, apartments in this area have a balcony, a cellar and a private car park. They tend to be quite ancient in town centres and most recent in outskirts.
