Property Description

L'Ecurie Cottage is part of the 17th century Cour building within Chateau la Trousse. The cottage is cosy and inviting, a large arched window floods light into the main living space. The ground floor has a full Kitchen with dining and living areas. On the 1st floor 2 bedrooms share a bathroom, the 2nd floor has an attic bedroom with en-suite. A private terrace space to the front overlooks the gardens and the rear terrace is inside the cobblestone courtyard. Both terraces have tables & chairs to enjoy a meal or a bottle of local fizz but with 40 acres to enjoy you can picnic somewhere new every mealtime. There is a gardener to maintain the grounds and a caretaker can prepare the cottage for your arrival. Chateau La Trousse is a unique & beautiful place offering truly hassle free owning of a permanent or holiday home.

The Estate grounds are fully enclosed by a 2 metre wall, access is by a tree lined private driveway from the public road. The gardens include water features, moat (now dry), woodland, swimming pool, tennis court and a productive kitchen garden & orchard providing a variety of vegetables, herbs, fruits and nuts. 400 years of history can be seen throughout the Chateau, the Orangery & the Cour buildings. The 18th century Chateau has communal areas for owners to enjoy including the large basement Kitchen with open fireplace, a chapel for special family celebrations and a ground floor petit salon leading onto a large terrace over-looking the gardens.
The Chateau, the Orangery and the Cour buildings, have been split into apartments and houses. Each house is privately owned and each house owner shares equally the ownership of the grounds and communal buildings. Currently there are 28 owners, an international group of families from Holland, Canada, UK, Middle East, Russia & France. Co-Operative ownership is usual and efficiently regulated in France. A council is elected bi-annually from amongst the Owners and the council works in conjunction with a French management company (Syndic) to ensure the Estate is managed fairly and observes all statutory requirements. All owners are invited to get involved in the running of the estate if time allows.
There is a caretaker who lives permanently on the estate and is responsible for maintenance and security. The caretaker maintains the communal gardens and buildings and allows access to tradesmen or utility workers. The caretaker has the keys to each house/apartment and makes regular checks for frozen pipes, water leaks or any potential problems while owners are not there.
