The property is located in stunning countryside. There are no shops in the village but the bakery van comes 3 times a week and the butcher and grocery van twice a week. The town of Fanjeaux is 2 km away and here there are basic shops. A pharmacy, bakery, butcher and grocery store. There is also a bar and a popular restaurant. There is a small Saturday market selling local produce.





This part of France is known as 'Le Pays Cathare'. The Cathars date back to the 13th century and it is their architectural legacy that dominates this part of France, in the form of fortified hilltop castles and abbeys. The area is also known for its pretty villages, vineyards, abundant produce and beautiful countryside. There is also, of course, a fierce pride in the local gastronomy, which makes for some excellent produce, markets and restaurants.





The landscape is wild and dramatic, making it a magnet for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. The historic cities of Toulouse, Narbonne and Montpelier are easily reached by an excellent train service from Castelnaudary 10kms. In the winter there is skiing in the Pyrenees.
