Property Description
A restored, village house, built in random stone with a refreshingly simple and unfussy interior. It has a Scandi feel inside, with pale floors, white walls and ceilings. Avignon and Nîmes are both within easy reach and have international airports as well as TGV stations.
The lifestyle in this part of France is positively languid, mostly due to the Mediterranean climate, which means hot summers and warm autumn months. The cool interior of this house and the shaded terrace is just what you need when the temperatures rise. Most of the accommodation is arranged on the ground floor. The living room (32m2) is lofty, with a double height ceiling, exposed stone walls and a wood-burning stove for the occasional chilly evening. There is a fitted kitchen/breakfast room and a smaller sitting room of 15m2. The new owner would have a fairly blank canvas on which to create their own interior style.
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor. The master bedroom (18m2) is double aspect, has direct access to the south-facing terrace and an en-suite with shower, WC and washbasin. Bedroom 2 (12m2), also has an en-suite shower room with WC and washbasin, and likewise access to the terrace.
Upstairs there is a further bedroom (21m2).
The whole property is built over a series of vaulted cellars, five in total. This area might be useful for the creation of a garage, a relaxation space, wine cellar .....
This house is situated about 9 kms from the medieval market town of Uzès, in the far south of France. The surrounding countryside is full of olive groves, sunflower fields and lavender. Uzès dates back to Roman times and is rightly proud of its history. It was largely restored in the 1950s and is a perfect blend of medieval and modern. Due to its strong transport links, Uzès and its neighbouring villages are in a highly desirable position. Be aware that if you fancy a slice of life here you will need a decent budget! You are rubbing shoulders with Provence and there is a strong holiday rental market, so Uzès is a popular choice.
In the south of France everyone goes to the beach or the river in their spare time. The drive to the Mediterranean is about an hour but just 8kms from Uzès is the River Gardon and specifically the Pont du Gard. The rocks by the riverbank are flat and ideal for a family picnic and a dip in the sparkling water. There is canoeing in the area, plenty of parking - the sort of place where you would want to spend the day.
