Access for international travel is very good.  There is a direct train line from central Bordeaux in Ste Foy - you can be in the centre of the city in just over an hour via direct train, and the airport at Bergerac is under 30mins away.  The airport at Bordeaux is a 1hr 15min drive, but you could, of course, keen your car in the garage and catch the train.
