The small village of Jublains has a restaurant, bar and bakery and is just 2 kms from the cottage - perfect for a morning stroll.  The good-sized town of Mayenne (11kms) offers a much wider choice and has all the usual shops, supermarkets and health services that you would expect from a vibrant, dynamic economy.  Market day is on a Monday and is the meeting place for all the locals.  The shops range from intriguing little arts and crafts establishments, to super modern hypermarkets.  The town also boasts a number of excellent restaurants, where you can sample the local cider.

The longère is tucked away down a country lane, with just a couple of neighbours for company.  The front door opens into the generous sitting room (32m²) which has a stone fireplace fitted with a woodburning stove and exposed ceiling beams.  The fitted kitchen (27m²) has exposed stone walls, tiled floor and a range cooker.  The ground floor accommodation includes a dining room, games room, WC and conservatory.

The ferry port of Caen is probably the closest and most convenient for reaching this property.  It is an easy 2 hours drive.  However, St Malo and Le Havre are only a little further.  The temperate climate of the area, charming countryside villages dotted with picture-perfect cottages and the laid back pace of life appeals to holidaymakers and those looking for a second home.  The region prides itself on rich greenery and delightful scenery, and is steeped in history.
