The garden is particularly lovely. Situated right opposite the house just across the track, it is planted with mature shrubs and securely surrounded by walls and fences. It is a low maintenance space with a patio area that is perfect for eating out, enjoying a leisurely breakfast and the long summer evenings. Location
The nearby town of Limoux has a good selection of shops and amenities. As you leave town and ascend the road that takes you from the valley floor up to the hilltop village, you really feel as if you are leaving the rest of the world behind. Villardebelle is a pretty village, perched on the side of the hill with views of the Pyrenees mountains stretching away into the distance. The house is in the centre of the village, right next to the church and the community hall. There are plenty of lovely walking paths to explore right from the house.
Limoux is about a 15minute drive however, for top-up supplies, there are vans that come around at various points through the week that sell locally produced supplies such as bread, meat, dairy products and fruit and veg. Once settled into the village, you’d soon become au fait with the schedule of these mobile distributors of home-grown goodies.
Whilst the house would benefit from some modernisation, it is ready for immediate occupation and is being sold fully furnished. There is a gas tank connected to the property although a new boiler is needed. The electrics will need upgrading in due course. However, surprisingly for a village in such a rural location the house is connected to mains drainage. The windows all have electric roller shutters for peace of mind while you’re away.
The world-renowned city of Carcassonne is 45 minutes away, which is where the nearest airport is located. It’s about a 90 minute drive to the beaches on the Mediterranean coast and there are a number of ski resorts in the Pyrenees to choose from.
