Location:
The property is situated in the rural hamlet of Fauroux, a few kilometers from the delightful Bastide town of Lauzerte. This part of France is known as the Quercy Blanc and occupies the triangle between Cahors, Agen and Toulouse.
The Quercy Blanc is often referred to as French Tuscany. It stretches along the Lot and Garonne rivers, amongst gentle limestone hills and fertile open valleys. The scenery will make your heart skip a beat. Most of the villages in the region are built on hilltops, as fortified strongholds when the wars between the French and English were at their height in the Middle Ages. Lauzerte is very typical.
In days gone by it was an important town for pilgrims travelling along the Camino de Santiago and even today you will spot hikers and the occasional friar. Lauzerte is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France and is known for its artisans and fruit, particularly melons and Chasselas grapes. There is a good selection of shops, many with traditional wrought iron signs representing their trades, which all adds to the authentic Medieval feel. Market days are on Wednesday and Sundays, when you might wish to drop into one of the delightful cafes or restaurants.
