The house is situated on the outskirts of Castillon-La-Bataille, a vibrant town on the banks of the Dordogne river, renowned for it’s local wine makers’ skills.  The town is busy and attractive, with plenty of shops, amenities and restaurants, particularly if you head down to the pretty waterfront area.  There are 4 supermarkets and a good selection of smaller (more interesting) shops.  If you need to top up on local wines, you need look no further than the Maison du Vin in town.  IF you are a rugby fan, there is a great sporting community to get involved with.

The town has a train station with a direct line into the centre of Bordeaux.  Journey time 40mins.
Bordeaux airport is a good international hub and if you wanted to get the TGV, it’s a very relaxing 3hr train ride from Paris.
