The castle is part of an architectural history dating back to the late Middle Ages, in the 13th century. Over time, this building was enlarged and remodeled, up until the 21st century. The lords of the same line have always succeeded one another, taking care to preserve the traces of their ancestors within its walls, and on the very old original documents such as parchments which are still present in the large library of the building. This building was a Fief of the medieval period, symbol of the French nobility. The building complex consists of two adjoining and communicating buildings. One was rebuilt in the 17th century and the other in the 20th century. Three levels overlap and cover more than 750 m2 of living space, with a total of 25 rooms, including 12 bedrooms and two chapels. Large cellars also occupy part of the ground floor. Some rooms, not destroyed after the religious wars of the 16th century, date from the 13th and 15th centuries. The restoration of these exceptional living spaces will have to be continued under the supervision of the Drac. The estate also consists of a former stable which rises on two levels, for a total surface area of approximately 300 m2, with a partially redone framework. The stable has a significant amount of equipment such as quads, trailers, agricultural tractors, brush cutters, etc. An old guard post with a loophole stands at the entrance to the estate and dates from the 15th century. The park adjoining the castle is delimited by a stone wall with two beautiful entrances, and extends over 3,830 m2. It is perfectly maintained and offers a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains and volcanoes as well as the castle, from its south-facing terrace occupying the entire width of the building. The roof of the building was completely redone according to the rules of the art in 2012, as well as the windows on the south side. The castle's drinking water is supplied by its own private spring. Heating is provided by electric convectors, three impressive working fireplaces, and wood-burning stoves in some rooms. If during its first period of existence at the beginning of the 13th century, until its partial destruction at the end of the 16th century, the estate was known to many owners without direct links, it was during its second period, from 1640 to 2025 that this castle remained in the hands of the same family, by direct lineal transmission? Nearly 400 years of succession! It should be kept in mind that the successor will be granted the title of chatelain, and will have to keep all the historical furniture present within its walls, because it will be sold with the estate.
