Dominating the deep gorges of the Dore from its rocky outcrop, this former priory fort erects its main façade facing south.

The castle consists of a rectangular main building of the fifteenth flanked to the east by a high and massive keep of the thirteenth century and to the west of a circular tower of the fifteenth. The house was refurbished in the eighteenth century by the former prior just before the Revolution and then in the 1910s, its owner, the painter Louis Retru, renovated it and enriched it with a neo-Gothic interior decoration.

The ensemble has been listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments since 1926.

The keep offers 2 levels each composed of a barrel-vaulted room, one of which is pierced by 3 oar archers . By a staircase housed in the thickness of the wall, one reaches a terrace of 20 m² lined with battlements and merlons from where the 360 ° panorama is superb.
