The Gers is a rural region of SW France, known for its rolling hills, covered with sunflowers in summer, its friendly people and of course its food.  There is no mass tourism.  You will find a gentle but not isolated way of life and plenty of ducks!  Auch and Condom are 20 minutes away by car.

This fine, sympathetically restored farmhouse has nearly 300m² of living space (200m² in the main house + 100m² in the combined guest house and artist’s studio).  It is in a private rural spot, but not isolated, and within easy reach of the local shops and services of Castéra-Verduzan.  The weather in Gers is what you would expect of a holiday region in SW France, with lots of sunshine, warm and not much rain.  For the cooler months the house has central heating from a heat source pump and is fully double glazed.

Whilst there are more livestock in the Gers than there are people, the very lovely towns of Auch and Condom are both within easy reach. Condom is gracefully designed, with narrow winding streets and a beautiful cathedral.   The market is very popular and the town well supplied with restaurants.  You can enjoy the River Baïse by hiring a boat, walk along the Pilgrim Route to Compstela, take in a round of golf or maybe some fishing.

Auch is south of this property, but about the same distance as Condom. It is situated along the River Gers and is a fantastic place for trying authentic Gascon cuisine.  It is a vibrant city with a bustling market every Saturday.

The best way to reach the region is by air to Toulouse (100kms).  There are direct low cost flights from a number of UK airports.
