Creating and Managing Private Adverts

This guide is designed to assist our classified users with managing their accounts and creating/editing/deleting advertisements.

Log-in Box

Logging into your Account

  • First, log into your account using your username and password. Your username is typically the email address used to register your account.

  • The Log-in box is located in the top left of the homepage, just under the Home button, as shown on the right. If you are not a registered user, click the Register link to create an account.

Once logged in, you will arrive directly on your customer portal. You can also access this page by clicking Your Account Home located in the top right hand side of the homepage. This is the main page from where you can coordinate your advertising on, its features include:

  • A quick reference section which will display your 10 most recent property enquiries, your billing information, any site announcements and any properties which match your property profile.

  • Access to your account settings. Here you may change your address, telephone and email details. Please note that all property enquiries will be sent to your Primary Email Address so please ensure this information is correct on your account.

  • Access to your property adverts, statistics and any enquiries made by visitors for your property.

  • Access to our free property search tools. If you are also looking for property then you may view your personalised property search results all from this page.

Create a New Advertisement

Creating a New Classified Advertisement

To create a new advertisement you must navigate from your customer portal to the My Properties section. This can be found under the My Advertising heading on the left hand navigation bar.

You will be directed towards the Classified Advertisement Management System. From here you can create new advertisements and resume uploading incomplete advertisements. You can also edit or update the details of existing advertisements. To begin with we will demonstrate how to create a new advert.

To start the new advertisement wizard, click the Create a new Classified Advertisement link.

Advert Creation Process

The new advertisement wizard is divided into 5 stages. Throughout the creation process any fields marked with an * are mandatory and must be filled in before proceeding.

Stage 1
  • Select the type of advert that you would like to create, then select the department in which your property is located and the nearest town to the property. Once these boxes are filled in, click submit.

Top Tip!
Create and save your description of the property on your local computer. You can then copy & paste the text straight into the advert creation wizard.

Stage 2
  • This stage requires you to enter your address details. This will be used as your billing address, (not necessarily the property you are selling).

  • Our system keeps a record of your address details, so when you create a second advertisement, this form will already be completed for you. If any of the details are incorrect, please change them in the Account Settings page on your Account Home.

Stage 3
Entering Your Property Details

  • The third stage is a form for entering the main details of your property. Enter the title of the advertisement and the price of the property. If you have any further price information, you can enter this into the price comment box.

  • The description box allows you to enter a full description of your property. Please make sure you enter as much information as possible as this makes your property a lot easier to find via the search engine.

  • Use the location box to provide a little more information about the property's immediate location.

  • Use the Highlights to enhance the different characteristics which make your property special and attractive. These appear near the top of your property advert and should display the best features about your property to grab the viewer’s interest.

  • Any further specific features your property may have can be detailed in the position and other related boxes. You may select as many features from each section that apply to your property.

  • The final boxes relate to your property condition and other important property information. When this information is complete, click continue to proceed to the next stage.

  • There is a small checkbox at the top of stage 3 labelled Display full details?. This box controls whether or not your full property description is displayed on the website or if only a brief introduction is provided. We would recommend that you always keep this box checked and display your full description but we leave this up to your discretion.

Top Tip!
Do not worry if you make a mistake at this stage, you will be able to correct the advertisement before payment is complete, and edit the advertisement once it is online.

Stage 4
Uploading Images

  • You will now be able to upload images of your property. A normal classified property advertisement is allowed a maximum of 10 pictures, while a premium classified advertisement allows you to have an unlimited number of images. To upload your images, select the number you require to upload and fill in a title for each.

  • Next, click the Browse… button to locate the images on your home computer.

  • Once you have selected the correct images and named them press the Upload Images button to upload them onto the page.

  • All the images you upload will appear at the bottom of the screen. You can Edit the title of an image, change its position or remove it by using the links next to the images.

  • When you are happy with the images associated with your property, click the finalise button at the bottom of the page to continue.

  • The first image in the list will appear as the main image for your property advert. It is therefore necessary to put your best and most appealing image here.

  • Finally, please note that the system only allows you to upload 5 images at one time. This is due to the increasing size of images today which can exceed the permissible amount which can be uploaded at any one time. Stage 5
Preview & Payment

  • Once you have completed the 4 stages of the advertisement wizard you will have a chance to review your property details. A preview of the completed advertisement is shown here.

  • If you would like to change any of the property details, click Add or edit the details of this advertisement (or Add, edit or remove images for images).

  • When you are happy with your advertisement, click Continue to Payment. This will take you to our online payment system.

  • Once you have completed the billing process, your advert will be placed online and you will receive a confirmation email.

Managing Adverts

Managing Existing Advertisements

  • Once you are logged in, click on the My Properties option listed beneath the My Advertising heading in the left hand navigation menu. From here you will be able to create a classified advert and manage any existing ones that have been created.

  • You will also be able to move these advertisements online (make them visible to users) and offline or archived (not visible to users).

  • From here you can also edit the details of you properties to correspond with construction or aesthetic changes made to any of them, thus allowing you to update the information of your property advertisements and display them to site visitors.

  • You can delete pictures you have already uploaded for your advertisements and upload new ones, you can also change the ordering of the images.

Top Tip!

Images need to be uploaded in jpeg format and at a resolution of 1024x768 or below.
