Local Rate Relief for Home Energy Conservation

Tuesday 16 February 2010

New and older homes constructed or renovated to an efficient energy consumption standard are eligible for five years' relief from the taxe foncière.

Indeed, for new homes, relief is available for up to seven years, as all newly constructed homes are automatically granted two years' relief, provided the tax authority is informed within 90 days of completion of the dwelling.

This tax relief is cumulative with other forms of financial assistance that are available for energy conservation works.

These include tax credits, eco-grants, and interest free mortgages.
