French Income Tax Payable in 2015

Wednesday 02 September 2015

What income tax might a married couple living in France expect to pay this year?

With the help from official figures supplied by the French tax authority we set out below an estimate of the level of income tax you might expect to pay in France for different levels of income.

The table shows the amount of income tax (impôt sur le revenu) payable in 2015, based on your net taxable income for 2014, for those who are tax resident in France.

The table is for a married couple, or those in a civil partnership, without any children or other dependants living in the household. Single persons will pay more, and those with children or other dependants will pay less.

The income figure used is your net taxable income, but taking no account of any particular tax credits or reductions to which you may be entitled, eg, energy conservation.

The table does not show the level of social charges (prélèvements sociaux) to which you will be liable. You can find more information about the main rules (rates, reductions and exemptions) that apply for 2015 here. The social charges will appear on your income tax notice.
