The little village of Juvigny-sous-Andaine is found in the lush countryside of the Orne department, at the edge of the extensive Andaine Forest. Attractive and authentic, the village is close not only to the region's principal attractions such as the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne, but is less than an hour and half by car from the ferry port of Caen.

Set in the main square, this pretty, stone-built cottage, reputedly one of the oldest in the village, has plenty of character with exposed beams and stonework. Bars, restaurants, the superb boulangerie and a small supermarket are only a few paces away across the village square.

A 10-minute drive gets one to the more comprehensive shopping at Bagnoles de l'Orne, a fabulous spa town where the spa treatments complement the charm of the elegant Belle Epoque and Art Deco buildings. A 12-minute drive in the other direction finds the mediaeval town of Domfront, where the half-timbered houses and quaint streets are a delight and the shopping great.

The area around Juvigny-sous-Andaine is perfect for many outdoor pursuits, with walking, horse-riding, cycling, golf and fishing all being accessible and popular. However, the seaside is also easily accessible, being a drive of about 90 minutes, so beach days are also possible.

The cottage is connected to mains drainage and fully habitable. Public car parking in the square is free, plentiful and unrestricted. We asked the owner about the running costs and here’s the response: “As a holiday home, spending about three months a year there, I find that I can keep the house going including all taxes, insurance, water and electricity for under £1000 pa.”
