14.4. Disabled Grant - Bourse d'enseignement d'adaptation

Adaption grants for disabled pupils are called Bourse d'enseignement d'adaptation.

14.4.1. Qualifying Rules

These are grants payable to primary school pupils and those at collège who may be disabled or have other major psychological or physical problems.

The grant is payable to assist with the costs and difficulties that may be associated with adapting to school life.

14.4.2. Cash Benefit

The grant is a multiple of up to sixfold of the basic sum of €28,89 (2013/14), depending on your circumstances.

14.4.3. Application Procedure

If you think you may be eligible then you should speak to your school.

The formal assessment is carried out by the Maison Départementale des Personnes Handicapées (MDPH).

If your child suffers from at least a 50% level of incapacity, and is unable to attend a mainstream school, then you may be eligIble for a special educational allowance called Allocation d’Education de l’Enfant Handicappé (AEEH).

The grant is not means tested, and a variable amount is payable, depending on the degree of incapacity.

To apply you need to speak to your local MDPH or CAF.
