Culture, architectural and historical heritage: Montlucon can be divided into two parts i.e. the medieval city and the industrial city. The Chateaux des Ducs de Bourbon is located at the heart of the old town. This quarter is a picturesque area housing many half-timbered properties of the 15th and 16th centuries. By car, several motorways drive to Paris, Lyon or Marseille. By train, regional routes connect Montlucon to Paris in about 3 hrs, Bordeaux in 5 hrs, Lyon in 3 ½ hrs and Marseille in 7 hrs.
