Paris Region Properties

As part of our Paris feature we have hand-picked a selection of properties located across the wider Paris region. The Paris region covers a vast area of approximately 12,000 square kilometres (4,633 square miles) and the departments that form the Île-de-France region; the Hauts-de-Seine (92), Seine-Saint-Denis (93), Val-de-Marne (94), Yvelines (78), Essonne (91), Val-d’Oise (95), Seine-et-Marne (77). Together these departments make up the greater metropolitan area of Paris and provide diverse landscape extending the 20 arrondissements of the city of Paris.

While apartments dominate the historic centre and well-connected suburbs, you find a greater variety of properties (townhouses, maisons de maitres, maisons bourgeois, farmhouse, cottages, bungalows & villas) the further out your travel. This region and notablly the banlieues (suburbs or outskirts ) of Paris benefit from excellent transport connections into the capital through the extensive regional train (RER), and metro networks. Many residents commute efficiently during the week while enjoying more space and a different pace of life outside the centre at weekends.

International travel remains popular thanks to Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly airports as well as the Eurostar and high speed TGV train network. Excellent road and rail links also provide good access to the rest of France and in particular the surrounding regions of Normandy, Picardy Champagne, Burgundy, and the Loire Valley.

Among the most desirable and well-known residential areas in the greater Paris region are several prestigious suburbs and historic towns. Locations such as Neuilly-sur-Seine, Boulogne-Billancourt, and Levallois-Perret in the western suburbs are particularly sought after due to their proximity to the city, strong transport links, and high-quality residential neighbourhoods. Further west in Yvelines, towns such as Versailles and Saint-Germain-en-Laye are renowned for their historic charm, prestigious schools, and proximity to important cultural and natural landmarks including the world-famous Palace of Versailles and extensive surrounding parklands. Other popular locations include Rueil-Malmaison, Sceaux, and Vincennes, which combine a village-like atmosphere with quick access to the capital. The region is also home to remarkable historic landscapes such as Fontainebleau, famous for it's magnificent Château and it's vast Forest that is one of the largest and most beautiful natural areas near to Paris. The eastern side of the region has experienced significant development around Disneyland Paris and Val d'Europe in Marne-la-Vallée. Property in this area has become increasingly attractive to investors due to strong tourism activity, employment opportunities linked to the theme park and retail sector, and excellent transport connections into central Paris (30mins by train).
